Modular Conveyors

Modular conveyors are used in industries where there is limited space to store and move heavy materials. Modular conveyors are also used in food processing plants, manufacturing plants, and transportation facilities. These conveyors can be found in electronic parts, medical supply and even jewelry company facilities who need to sort, count and batch items for order fulfillment.

SmartMove® conveyor systems are made with lightweight portable aluminum frames and snap link plastic chain belting that is adjustable over time to retain the proper tension. Our belting is also easy to repair and replace, often with just a few minutes time using no more than a standard screwdriver.

A short line conveyor is used to move small items from one place to another. A long line conveyor is the most common type used in the industry. These conveyors can be used to transfer products over a long factory floor distance to save greatly on labor costs while also improving worker safety. There are many ways these conveyors are used; one example would be in assembly lines.
An assembly line is usually where the large factories that are required to produce lots of different products meet. These lines will be coordinated with the worker’s tasks on the individual product lines to ensure that each task is completed on time. These assembly lines are important because they allow the employees to move products faster, which results in faster production and higher profits.

It’s easy to see how an assembly line works; the first person to put their hand on a box of a certain item and place it on the table is the person that gets to make that item. While the person may have been waiting patiently on their stool, a new employee will be waiting outside of the job they are assigned to, this is called queuing. Each factory employee has their own job to do; usually this job is to place the boxes on a table and then return them to the correct area.

A multi-level conveyor system reduces the number of hands needed as items can be returned using the same system during a process that requires many steps. These conveyors are used in different areas of an assembly line. These conveyors are used to move items from one section of the assembly line to another and back, if needed. Depending on the number of workers needed for the assembly line, these systems can be made out of several different modular conveyor  sections.

Materials can be loaded onto these conveyors using many different methods. These methods include manual loading or a forklift to get items on the conveyor belt. Palletizing a conveyor can be a tedious process; in order to reduce the time a worker must load the pallet, some conveyors have multiple pallets that can be stacked together or they can have them stacked individually.

SmartMove® conveyors use quiet, energy efficient electric motors, which are used for both short and long line systems. This feature, plus the easily adjusted plastic chain snap link belting make SmartMove® systems almost maintenance free.

There are several ways a conveyor is used. Some workers will load a conveyor belt from the end, while others will walk around it and load items into containers as the belt moves.

When used with an automatic loader, a conveyor system can save a company a lot of money. The loader only needs to be moved up or down to load products and materials whereas a crane would need to stand in the middle of the line, loading products. Using this type of conveyor is a much more efficient method of loading goods, than loading products on a conveyor belt with a crane setup. It is also possible to find multipurpose conveyor systems. Multi-purpose conveyors are designed to be used on a wide variety of applications. From manufacturing, transportation, warehousing and many more. No matter what kind of application you need a conveyor for, there is sure to be a module that is perfect for your needs.

Medical Conveyors

They are used in many places to perform various jobs such as pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmacy packaging and medical engineering. These machines are of diverse types depending on their functionality and the material they are made from. A multi-level conveyor system is a great example of these machines. It is very important to choose the right machine in terms of your work.

There are several types of multi-level conveyor systems. Some of the most common ones counting, accumulation and carousel. It is important to know each type of conveyor carefully because they are classified differently.

The first type of conveyor is the counting conveyor that uses an infra red photo sensor to stop the belt as items reach the end.
Heat resistant conveyors are another kind of high-end devices that are used in pharmaceutical and other packaging industries where items are shrink wrapped for example. Their machinery ensures their work is done at the highest possible quality standards.

Different combinations of machinery to make these products function well. The parts vary depending on the need of the company and the industry. An arrangement that is well thought of will help the companies get maximum benefit from the machine.

Several factors are taken into consideration when creating a multi-level conveyor system. Some of the important things are material that the conveyor is made of, the number of steps it can take, the speed of the conveyor, the size of the containers that ride the belt, and the machine’s flexibility. All these things play a vital role in the machine’s performance.

The material used to build the machinery also has an impact on its functioning. If the material is more fragile, then it becomes harder for the machinery to handle. These delicate materials may be too thick for the conveyor machines to handle.

Size of the container or packaging material also influences the conveyor system. Smaller the container, the less power the conveyor will be able to handle. In cases of bigger containers, the smaller the surface area that the conveyor has to cover, the faster it will move. Having the most space on the conveyor makes it possible for a greater number of materials to be processed.

Flexibility of the conveyor system can also affect the production output. Since there are a number of processes that require a multiple level transportation, the conveyor should be able to adapt to them. Only then will it serve its purpose and its users.

You should always consider the design and structure of the multi-level conveyor systems that you plan to buy. They are some of the most important factors that will affect the product’s performance. They are usually created to create more efficient ways to transport materials.

Companies need to be aware of the need of these conveyors and how they can be used to improve their production output. They should also be aware of the information and facts about the system that they plan to buy so that they will have a good understanding about its functioning. Using the right information will allow them to have high production output, therefore satisfying the demand of their clients. Advice and customer service from SmartMove® will ensure success.

Custom Conveyors

Conveyor systems used to be primarily mechanical devices for moving items from one place to another. However, advances in technology have made them versatile systems can now move many types of products by wight and size. These conveyors are commonly used for the transportation of a wide variety of goods and different companies have produced a variety of conveyor systems that are available for all types of applications.

Because these conveyors are used for cargo transportation, there is a wide range of goods they can move including refrigerated items, heavy manufactured goods, bulk commodities, industrial products, and even different types of toys, jewelry, coffee packets and more. A conveyor system can be designed to carry products of any type from cans, plastic bottles, agricultural products, paper goods, steel and iron products, canned goods, beverage containers, etc. A conveyor will also be used to move crated or boxed items from their original packing to its final destination.

When selecting a system for the packaging of large shipments or supplies, it is very important to follow special instructions. The best results are obtained by installing a conveyor that is designed for the product you are transporting. A conveyor system can be adapted to carry any cargo, but if you are transporting a hazardous material then special packaging is required.

In order to find the right system for your specific needs you should first review your company’s needs. This includes determining the volume of product to be transported, the type of products to be packaged, and the weight of the items to be packaged. Once you have determined the information you need, you can then consult with the experts at SmartMove® Conveyors who offers a variety of conveyor options to best suit your needs.

An advantage of purchasing a modular conveyor system is that they are often available at a low cost. It also ensures that all of the products are transported as efficiently as possible. Smaller businesses should choose low cost options if their budget does not allow for an in-depth evaluation of the options available.

If you want your conveyor solutions to be able to handle the most diverse cargo, there are some options available to you. For example, there are several types of Incline and Decline conveyors. Each conveyor style has a specific type of loader that can be installed on the machine.

An Incline conveyor is a piece of equipment that often features vertical flights to help scoop items and carry them up and over into a box. Each modular +section of the conveyor is connected to the other sections by easy to remove lag bolts. An Incline conveyor is usually operated from the lower end and also features an emergency stop for safety.

A Decline conveyor is similar to an Incline machine except that a Decline conveyor is for moving items down from a higher position vs up. Other features can include a 90 degree turn section as well as an end stop on a roller conveyor which easily accumulates items.

When you are evaluating your options, you should keep in mind that there are some differences in both models and styles when it comes to incline/decline systems. The size and power of the electric motor dependis on what the items are that going to be packed weigh. It is best to determine how heavy the items are so that you can make the most efficient use of the system.

There are a wide range of conveyors available for you to choose from, so you should consult your SmartMove® Conveyors account representative to learn about all the options. Machine & Tool Conveyors

In the machining industry, conveyors are used for machining applications like parts production or processes that involve multiple steps in the production process.

A conveyor can be described as a long aluminum frame table like structure with plastic chain belting running continuously on a short or long line setup to carry machined parts or even raw materials.

Conveyors are used to transport materials from one place to another. Conveyors are also used to carry out various types of machining processes. For example, parts sorting conveyor systems are used to move parts from one area to another, using a long line conveyor to move items over large distances. SmartMove® sorting conveyors also offer a carousel option so workers can pick parts of the belting as needed.

Moving a material from one place to another using a conveyor is not always straightforward. The correct conveyor for the job depends on the conditions where the conveyor is required to operate.

For example, the conveyor may be used in an accumulation operation, where the belting needs to keep moving while holding parts are boxes neatly accummulated in place for easy removal by works at the end stop end.

SmartMove® offers different types of conveyors for different types of applications. Therefore, it is necessary to have access to an expert conveyor specialist to ensure that the correct conveyor system is used for your needs.

Work Station Conveyors

Work Station Conveyors are known to be the most economical means of moving cargo from one place to another while being able to accessed by workers located along the line. The result is a smoother work flow, faster shipping times and reduced costs. These conveyors come in different forms and sizes. The main types are:

One of the oldest conveyors is the work surface conveyor systems that are preferred by manufacturers and distributors of business products. These conveyors are called work surface conveyors and move large or small goods from one place to another. There are two types of work surface conveyors: U-shaped and Recessed Belting. The Recessed Belting type is simple to operate and allows the surface area to be easily accessible to the worker on the line.

This type of work surface conveyor system is typically used for loading bins or small boxes of various shapes and sizes. Boxes or plastic bins can be slid easily on top of the conveyor belt. These systems are specially made for operations where items can be assembled in phases by different workers located along the moving conveyor line.

In addition to loading work surfaces, U-shaped conveyors are widely used in warehouses, factories and packing warehouses. They also come in various sizes that make it possible to transport goods. When unloading products from pallets or containers, work surface conveyors are used in the process.

Various types of high speed belting are used for various applications. Work stations are often used with universal ones to provide users with the convenience of moving heavy items over long distances.

These conveyor systems are used by almost all industries because of their practicality and efficiency. They can be easily installed and they are maintenance free.

It is important to make sure that the system is working properly so that the right products can be delivered to their destination. It is also important to use conveyors that are built to perform reliably.

For years, SmartMove® Conveyor systems have proven their efficiency and effectiveness. They have been used to move products in factories, warehouses, distribution centers and the manufacturing industry.

Counting Conveyors

In all applications, from food processing to manufacturing, we’re seeing a shift from conventional counting conveyors to new and innovative technologies. Many manufacturers have found that their core operations can be significantly improved with the adoption of these new cutting-edge conveyor technologies. For example, they allow for an increase in the throughput rate, efficiency, safety, and productivity, along with improved production control, time scheduling, and management.

The benefits of using new conveyor technologies are beginning to become apparent in the industrial world. From manufacturing to electronics, food and medical operations, all industries are recognizing the advantages of utilizing counting and diversion conveyors in order to maximize their productivity.

SmartMove®  counting conveyor systems are the simplest and most convenient type of conveyor available to businesses. When considering the benefits of using these types of systems, the benefit is the reduction of human error, as the counting process becomes automated. The designs of today’s counting conveyors are much better than those used in previous years. They are equipped with computerized photo / infra-red sensors, which allow both counting and stop start action as needed.

These features are included on newer types of counting and diverting conveyors. Traditional counting conveyors simply move along or crawl while drawing; they are also larger and heavier, and require more effort from the operator than our new SmartMove® automated systems.

Diverting Conveyors

Another design of conveying systems that have come a long way is the diversion conveyor. The design and function allows items to be sent in two different directions on their journey through your production facility, further increasing productivity as well as a savings in worker time and motion spent.

In addition to the improvements in design and functionality, other changes include quieter operation, reduced environmental impact, and little or no maintenance using lightweight aluminum frame plastic chain modular conveyors from SmartMove®. Our counting conveyors, don’t pull, shove, or jam, and are therefore more efficient as well as safe to operate. Our wide belt conveyors also feature an increased load capacity, due their ability to accommodate products with different weight and size.

The automated and automatic safety of today’s system are made possible because the operator at any section of the line can easily stop the belt from moving by pressing or even standing on an E stop button.

Traditional counting conveyors are not intended to carry products from one point to another. Instead, they are designed to move products down a single lane, where they are often singulated in a sequential manner, usually accumulating at an end stop or dropped into a box.

Many manufacturers find that using different types of conveyors, depending on the type of material being moved, permits them to collect more accurate information about the time-frame of their operations. Distributors who are able to achieve this have realized that their ability to process inventory becomes much more precise and can reduce their turn times.

The companies that are enjoying the benefits of these new innovations are realizing the return on investment of implementing them. They’ve been able to cut costs and improve safety, while increasing productivity.

Industrial Conveyors

Gate conveyors are among the most used, helpful and popular types of industrial conveyors available. There are many different styles and types of gate conveyors, and their designs can vary greatly in size, shape and purpose.

SmartMove® Gate conveyors allow workers or forklifts to pass through the gate of a conveyor sitting on the factory floor. This feature is a space saver and also improves productivity. Better yet, the gate section of the conveyor has a hydraulic assist so it can be lifted with just one hand. Another efficiency feature is that the belt stops moving when the gate is lifted and then resumes when the gate is dropped back into position..

Manual retractable conveyors can be used to move objects along a long conveyor section, that can easily be retracted when a shorter section is needed instead.

Telescoping conveyors are identical to retractable conveyors, except they are used mostly as a short line that can be temporarily extended when needed.

When you look around the world, you will see that different industries use gate conveyors for all sorts of uses.

Turn Conveyors

In handling a warehouse or industrial site, there are many ways of improving productivity. Among these is creating a more efficient and productive work environment. With this aim, it is very important to use the correct design and layout of systems. Proper utilization of space in many ways can result in higher productivity, efficiency and profitability.

Some warehouse or factory sites can have very limited space available for new operations. Especially when it comes to working areas, moving around and moving products is very inefficient and can prove to be very detrimental to the productivity of workers. So where does one begin?

Perhaps the best way to create efficient movement for items in your factory space is with a SmartMove® modular conveyor system. SmartMove® conveyors are the preferred choice for many manufacturing facilities and warehouses. If space is limited, being able to move items around corners can increase efficiency and safety.

One effective way to do this is to use turn wheel guides for corners. These conveyor systems feature a wheel mounted on a 90 degree corner that can easily move products or items of varying sizes. Once at corner of the warehouse or factory has been navigated by the items on the conveyor belt, workers are able to get their items without leaving the movement path.

Depending on the size of the warehouse or factory, there are modular conveyor sections or accessories that will allow for the easy movement of products for packaging and order fulfillment. One of these modifications is accomplished by creating multiple feed lanes. In this way, workers can not only move product into a specific location but also provide a feed line for other employees to channel items in single file to the next workstation on the line. This allows for complete accessibility of inventory and ensures maximum efficiency.

SmartMove® modular conveyors can also help ensure that workers do not run out of products to start with. SmartMove® conveyors keep products moving to designated areas which allows the production line to move on with no interruptions. It prevents wasted production time and turns down the odds of items being damaged as well.

Using conveyors to control how much is going out of the loading area allows productivity to be maintained. Productivity is a key factor in the overall success of any operation.

Sorting Conveyor Systems

The cost of sorting and tracking bulk products has been decreased with the increase in automation thanks to SmartMove® modular plastic chain belt conveyors. Our conveyors have a good impact on production companies because of the increase in efficiency our systems add to their operations. The following are some of the advantages of using the collection, sorting and counting conveyor systems:

– Ability to reduce the number of employees
– Automation of workflow processes which helps the business management in streamlining operations.

The first step to achieving profitability in a manufacturing businesses is to introduce the these conveyor systems in their processes. It is therefore important for the owners to take some good measures regarding the development of the industrial manufacturing plants. One of the best ways to make the business more profitable is to use these kinds of industrial automated material handling systems, as the uses of these types of conveyor systems are diverse, from moving raw materials to final packaging and order fulfillment.

Automation is the process by which an organization is able to improve its productivity. As we all know, a higher productivity results to lower costs and greater profit. With the help of the related industrial processes and equipment, the increasing demand of automated process will add up to the financial benefits of the business.

The conveying systems are a key component of the automation and industrial processing applications. It helps in the systematic movement of materials and objects and are thus beneficial for various industrial manufacturing operations. To this end, the automated conveyor systems are widely used for the transporting and sorting of the goods and other materials.

The accumulation, sorting and counting conveyor systems can be classified as the systems which help in the efficient transfer of the goods from area of a manufacturing plant to another and are thus generally found in the product assembly area.

While the order fulfillment packaging conveyors are used not only in manufacturing but also in the automotive, electronics, food, machining and medical and pharmaceutical industries and are the key to faster distribution of products to the end user.

Conveyor System Accessories

The conveyor system is a key part of many industrial processes, as it moves goods from one point to another using automation and not human labor, and the conveyor can be far more complex than just a moving belt. Whether it’s a simple short line system or a large multi-level or multi lane conveyor system, there are several different accessories to provide specific features that will improve productivity and reduce costs. The most common conveyor system accessories include:

FLIGHTS

Flights can be cut to different heights and different distances apart. They push, pull and can be used to separate product for organization as items are moved.

STOP BARS

Adjustable stop bars can not only be used at the end of the line but slide up and down the rails allowing them to be located anywhere needed.

GUIDE RAILS

Adjustable guide rails are used to push, line up to center products. This accessory allows for several different sized products to be centered on the same sized conveyor.

ADJUSTABLE END STOP

excellent for low pressure accumulating product by providing a non-marring stop that holds items for operators, or can allow items not in the path of the stop to continue traveling on the conveyor.

ROLLER SECTIONS

Roller sections are usually 1 to 2 feet long and are built into the conveyor sideframes to provide smooth and even transfers off and onto the rollers. Product moving on the moving conveyor belt is transferred to the roller sections to provide a safe zone for loading and unloading the conveyor. This promotes worker safety as operators are not exposed to a moving conveyor.
